TOP 5 Commercial Water Damages:
- Appliances & Equipment Leaks: This is common in restaurants and catering businesses. When appliance failure occurs, it can cause water damages to you facility. This also applies to HVAC systems and Water Heaters.
- Sprinkler Systems: Older buildings can have outdated sprinkler systems. If these systems have not been updated, they can be found faulty and may be in need of replacement. Sprinkler system malfunction, can ruin inventory and business assets
- Broken pipe or Plumping Issues: Just like in your home, pipes can burst or corrode over time. Pay attention to things like low or high water pressure and have your water meters checked by your maintenance crew periodically
- Sewer Line Backup-All commercial buildings will have bathroom facilities and some with multiple drain lines connected together. When your main line back up, it can cause sewage overflow. Sewage water is a category 3 (black water) contamination and requires sanitization and in all cases any porous materials that came in contact with that water, will need to be removed.
- Roof Penetrations: If the roof on your building has not been serviced or replaced in the last 10 years, it can lead to severe damage to the interior of your building. Sometimes, especially here in California, we don’t get as much rain and so leaks aren’t always apparent. We do get strong wind gusts and so it is important to have your maintenance personnel assess any damages after a significant wind storm.
